The duo behind Sichuanese noodle concept Liu Xiaomian have chosen Soho’s Kingly Court for their debut bricks-and-mortar location.

Liu Xiaomian started out as a street food stall in 2017 but now trades from The Jackalope in Marylebone (it has also traded at Holborn Whippet and Arcade Food Hall).

Billed by founders Charlene Liu and Liu Qian as spicy, numbing and addictive, the noodles hail from the city of Chongqing in south-west China.

Customers can choose from either wheat noodles - available with toppings including minced pork, chickpeas, spicy beef - or hot and sour glassnoodles.

Other options on the tight menu include cucumber salad, wontons spicy pig trotter and iced glutinous rice ball in brown sugar.

The pair say the essence of their dishes lies in their signature chilli oil, which is made from four types of chillies and over 15 different spices.
